Bethany Blair’s journey to becoming IPSY’s Senior Director of Social and Creators is the kind of career glow-up we love to celebrate. She went from being an IPSY subscriber to leading the brand’s social and creator initiatives, all while balancing roles as a podcast host, content innovator, and mom. Blair is proof that passion, persistence, and a little bit of courage can turn beauty dreams into reality.
Blair’s connection to IPSY runs deep—we’re talking long-term relationship status. “I started off as a subscriber in the early IPSY days, and eventually ended up in their creator community when I started a blog,” she shares. That initial love for beauty blossomed into something bigger than she ever imagined.
“After being connected to IPSY for five years, I finally got the courage to tell one of my connections here that I wanted to work at IPSY. About a year later, I got a job!” she recalls. Leaving behind her career in television production, Blair took a leap of faith for a temporary role at IPSY—and six years later, she’s still here, shaping the way beauty content comes to life across social media and creator collaborations.
When it comes to developing content that resonates, Blair believes the key lies in diversity—both on-screen and behind the scenes. “Having diversity within the team helps drive diverse thinking,” she explains. “We do that through meaningful casting and a strong stance on DEI—it’s non-negotiable.” Whether it’s finding the next beauty trend, celebrating underrepresented voices, or delivering content that makes you laugh, Blair and her team ensure that IPSY’s platforms reflect the many faces and facets of beauty.
Blair doesn’t just lead the charge behind the scenes—she also takes center stage as the host of Hitting Pan, IPSY’s must-listen beauty podcast. “We were looking for a way to create content that didn’t feel so branded but still had IPSY in the mix,” she says. Enter Hitting Pan: a space for raw, real, and often hilarious conversations about beauty, self-expression, and everything in between.
From Danessa Myricks’ inspiring career pivot to Etienne Ortega’s moving story about working through chemotherapy, Hitting Pan is filled with moments that go way beyond product recommendations (though we love those, too). And Blair? She’s the perfect host to guide these conversations with curiosity, wit, and heart.
With years of experience in the industry, Blair has seen beauty content transform before her eyes. “The obvious answer is the introduction of short-form video and how short our attention spans have gotten,” she notes, joking “How many people watch at 1.5x speed these days?” But beyond TikTok trends, she sees a shift coming: “I think there’s going to be a bit of a reckoning on the pay-to-play aspect of the space. I miss the purity the industry held 10 years ago, pre-brand deals.”
That said, she’s all about striking a balance between authenticity and opportunity. “I’m all for creators getting paid their value, but we’ve lost a little bit of that sparkle of talking about something organically.” She sees IPSY as a brand that can help lead that charge.
Blair wears many hats—social media strategist, podcast host, and beauty industry expert—but her most cherished role? Being a mom. “True balance does not exist,” she admits. “Women and moms can do it all, but sometimes you can’t do it all at the same time—and that’s okay!”
She prioritizes shutting her laptop at a certain time every day and always putting her son to bed. “Having a support system both professionally and personally is imperative,” she emphasizes. And of course, self-care plays a major role. Her personal beauty routine has evolved to focus more on skincare (“I haven’t bought skincare in years thanks to my three IPSY subscriptions!”), but one thing that hasn’t changed? “I’ll always be a glam girl at heart!”
Blair has big plans for the future, including growing the Hitting Pan audience and pushing IPSY’s content to be even more engaging, relatable, and fun. “Beauty is not that serious,” she says. “People are looking for something different, something that feels worth their time. We want to make sure our content makes you stop your scroll and listen to what we have to say.”
And with Bethany Blair at the helm, there’s no doubt IPSY will continue to lead the beauty conversation—one scroll-stopping, podcast-worthy moment at a time.
