You’ve already seen the TikTok tutorials on your social feeds—bold, graphic eyeliner, bee-stung lips, skincare-forward makeup, over-the-top blush, cool tones, warm tones, latte tones, strawberry-girl makeup, fake freckles, exaggerated lip liner, glossy AF lips, chrome nails, jelly nails, and more (and even more!). When it comes to covering 2024 makeup trends, one thing is for sure—they are all over the place, and in a way we’re obsessed with. Seriously, we are so here for the beautiful chaos. Right now, the beauty landscape is more vast than ever. Maximalism, minimalism, and nostalgia are all colliding and it’s a time where anything and everything goes. To sum it up, we tapped into a few beauty industry experts and did some of our own scrolling to round up the best makeup and nail trends of 2024.
The common thread? Choosing you. No matter which trends you choose to follow, there’s one thing they all have in common: self-expression! “People should be allowed to play with beauty and express themselves however they wish,” says Tomi Talabin of Black Beauty Club. We couldn’t agree more. Long live the creativity and self-expression of makeup. Choose to play with the looks that speak to you and make you feel your best, considering your personal style. Now let’s dive into the beauty looks that will make us look back one day and feel serious nostalgia for 2024.

It's a fact: Sabrina Carpenter’s blush game had us in a chokehold with “Espresso,” and it isn’t letting go of us anytime soon. The endless social media tutorials from makeup artists and influencers recreating her signature cheek combo have garnered millions of views, solidifying Sabrina’s rosy glow as one of 2024’s top beauty trends. It’s rosy, it's dewy, it’s girl-next-door with a bad-girl side—what’s not to love? The trick is to focus your makeup products on the apples of your cheeks. Need a visual? We followed this tutorial from @paintedbyspencer step by step to easily achieve doll-like cheek perfection. Try pairing a liquid blush like LOVE + CRAFT + BEAUTY Liquid Cosmic Blush in Mercury Moves with KIMCHI CHIC BEAUTY Thailor Blush in Pinky, and ABOUT-FACE Light Lock Highlight Fluid for a pinchable pop of pink.
If you thought thin brows were a thing of the past, think again! Halsey recently endorsed them with a hot take at the VMAs, and if Halsey’s a skinny brow supporter, how could we not back her up? While thicker, brushed-up brows will always be gorge in our eyes, thinner, barely-there brows reminiscent of the ’90s have made a comeback over the past year—and when done right, they look pretty amazing. What we love about thinner brows is how subtle or loud they can be depending on your mood. Play them up by adding a little brow tint and brushing some mascara on your lashes for a balanced look.
Yup, still obsessed. Flushed, frosty-pink blush, feathery brows, shimmer-filled lids, just-bitten lips, a dewy skin tint, and fluttery lashes are the main ingredients for the balletcore beauty trend that dominated our feeds this year and last. This look is all about letting your skin tone shine through and enhancing your natural beauty. Use a pink shimmery blush and apply it to the apples of your cheeks, sweeping upward toward your temples. Then smudge the same blush along your eyelids and bridge of your nose, followed by a pearly highlight at the inner and outer corners of your eyes. We used a combo of BEAU BABE BEAUTY Blushing Blush and GIRLACTIK Metallic Eye Sparkleto release our inner ballerina. Pretty hair bow highly recommended.
The 2024 runways have spoken, and they want us to look way ahead for makeup inspo. Wild, geometric eye makeup shapes, chrome and metallic shadow shades, 3D eyeliner, bulky gems and rhinestones placed wherever you want them, colorful glitter lips, spacey hair embellishments, and over-the-top nails make this trend all about self-expression and thinking outside the box.
When it comes to makeup, red lipstick is universal. From romantic crimson reds to deep berry hues and punchy scarlet shades, there's a red lip for everyone and every season—and this year is all about the bold red lip. Whether it be your brightest strawberry red or your deepest oxblood, pair it with a lip liner two to three shades darker than your lipstick (trust the process!) to make it so 2024.
Experimental eyeshadow and eyeliner are here to stay! Makeup artist Renée Loiz says, “The biggest trend for 2024 is [futuristic eyes]. Think of graphic lines, floating eyeliner, and colorful accents. People are becoming more experimental, trying different techniques and colors and being bold enough to wear them and wear them with confidence.” The options are endless regarding the creativity you can have with your eye makeup. Get experimental with products (we love taking inspo from Euphoria) like the ABOUT-FACE BY HALSEY Matte Fluid Eye Paint. These richly pigmented liquid eyeshadows and liners are long-wearing and work to create a colorful cat eye or a minimal graphic eyeliner look.
When you want to wear lipstick without it being the star of the show, opt for a blurred-out effect. We love to create this look as a part of our everyday makeup routine, and the best part is that you can pull it off with minimal beauty products. To create this look, start by applying a hydrating lip balm (like ESTATE COSMETICS Most Wanted Lip Balm) before applying a matte or satin-finish blendable lipstick to the center of your lips. Then lightly pressing out with a brush or your fingertips. Finish using a lighter shade to the outer lips for an ombré effect, or let the lipstick fade into your natural lip color. Get the look with NARS COSMETICS Air Matte Lip Color in Lose Control. The high-coverage liquid formula is the perfect texture to blend out while still delivering a gorgeous burst of color.
This year, gloss = glam. We’re talking lips so shiny, your friends will be reaching for their sunglasses just to look at you. Whether it be a natural lip shade with a clear glossy finish, or a pop of color with mega-watt glow, high-shine, luminous lips are a trend we’re not ever going to gatekeep. Try it yourself with UOMA Black Magic Hypnotic Impact High Shine Lipstick. Sunglasses not included.
We love multitasking when it comes to summer makeup products (like a good tinted spf and blush-shadow duo). But one thing we noticed this year is that thanks to monochrome makeup being a thing, we can multitask with our makeup all year round. Choose multi-tasking products in a similar palette of colors like this neutral, latte toned look here, and apply the same products on eyes, lips, and cheeks for a beautiful monochrome look. Using a product like the ICONIC LONDON Lip & Cheek Trio makes this look super easy to achieve. Tip: Bring your blush all the way up to your brow and onto your lids for a flushed look.
The “clean girl” aesthetic isn’t going anywhere in 2024. “We’re going to see more of the ‘clean girl’ vibe,” beauty marketer Kristyl Newell says. “It’s a little more than no-makeup makeup but less than a full beat. Inspired by celebs like Sophia Richie and Hailey Bieber, it will be about enhancing your features with fresh-looking makeup that’s not too overpowering.” No “clean girl” makeup look is complete without a touch of blush. Try the CIATE LONDON Velvet Skin Cream Blush for a subtle pink hue.
A radiant finish is all the rage for 2024, but this look isn’t just about your finishing touches like a highlighter—this look starts with your skincare and primers for a “plump-perfect skin look,” says Talabin. Enhance your glow with the MISCHO BEAUTY Sheer Glow Primer for next-level illuminated priming power.
