Valentine’s Day is right around the corner, and that means it’s time to decide on a hairstyle for any and every occasion. Whether you’re celebrating with your significant other over a romantic dinner, having a rom-com marathon with your BFF, or using the day to start your much-deserved self-love affair, you want to look like Cupid himself styled you for the day. For those of you who’ve already planned out your makeup look and V-Day mani to boot, we’ve rounded up 32 easy Valentine’s Day hairstyles (OK, and a few that may require some expert help) that are great inspo for your Valentine’s Day hair look. Find your perfect style below!

1. Braids With Bows Valentine’s Day Hair

With ballet- and coquette-core in full swing, it only makes sense to add a bow in your hair as much as possible. This hairstyle sports multiple braids with a very elegant half-up half-down look and tops it all with a velvet bow. To achieve it, slick the top half of your hair into a high ponytail (this works best on second-day hair, trust). Then, take a couple of chunks from the pony and braid them into small braids. Lastly, take your fave bow and tie it around the pony.

2. Bows & Bobs V-Day Hair

If you’ve jumped on the bob trend flooding your FYP right now, this style is for you. A common misconception about the sleek bob cut is that you can’t really do much with it because of the short length. We’re here to show you just how wrong that is. This style also uses the pretty bow effect to make your bob Galentine’s Day-ready. Just leave your hair in its natural texture and secure the top half with a bow, leaving a middle part visible for that Haliey Bieber effect.

3. Effortless Claw Clip Valentine’s Day Hair

This hairstyle is a fave of ours because of the romantic curls paired with the effortlessness of the claw clip—it’s as romantic as a Renaissance painting. To get the look, curl your hair in loose curls and waves, alternating the piece sizes and the direction of the curls to add volume and a messiness to the hair. Then, take the hair and twist it at the nape of the neck and secure it with a decorative claw clip.

4. Bow Pigtails Valentine’s Day Hair

The more bows, the merrier! This style turns a classic, youthful hairstyle into something a little more appropriate for date night because of the bows. Just put your hair into two low ponytails, leaving face-framing hair out to make the look more elegant. Then, top off the look by tying pink or red-colored bows around the ponies.

5. Shaggy Updo for Valentine’s Day

Nothing spells r-o-m-a-n-c-e like a wispy, face-framing updo. Add a set of piecey, eyebrow-grazing bangs into the mix and you’ve got a recipe for date-night perfection. Gather your hair in a low ponytail, and pull out longer layers in the front and sides of your hairline before you secure it. Twist your hair into a messy bun and fluff up your bangs, raking them slightly to one side with your fingers. This look pairs best with a sultry, smoky eye.

6. Sleek, Straight Valentine’s Day Strands

We can thank 2022 (and Vanessa Hudgens) for making the middle part mainstream once again. Now that it's back, we’re never letting it go. This sleek-straight hairstyle focuses on showing off major shine without drawing attention away from your gorgeous features. Part your hair in the center with the tail of a styling comb, then spritz hair with a smoothing heat protectant (such as BRIOGEO HAIR CARE Farewell Frizz Blow Dry Perfection and Heat Protectant Crème) andblow-dry with a round boar bristle brush (like the COMPLEX CULTURE Vegan Boar Bristle Round Brush) to amp up the shine. The best part about this look? It works for both long hair and short hair.

7. Surprise Twist for Valentine’s Day

The unicorn twist at the very tail-end of this gorgeous blowout is nothing short of magical. If you’re looking for a way to wear your hair down and keep it out of your face, this is it. Gather your ends and create a tight twist or braid, securing it at the top, middle, and ends with bobby pins. Add a clear elastic to the end and tug gently at the hair in between the pins to create extra fluff. Spritz with R+CO Trophy Shine + Texture Spray to lock your look in place.

8. Woke-Up-Like-This V-Day Waves

Looking for a style that takes just minutes in front of the mirror, no curling iron or flat iron needed? Cue boho-bedhead bends that are flirty, fuss-free, and way too pretty not to try. The best part? Again, you don’t even need a curling wand. Once you’re done blow-drying, part your hair down the middle and secure it into two loose braids. Before you’re ready to head out the door, unravel, tousle, and spritz with OCTAVIO MOLINA La Playa Salt Spray for sexy waves that are sure to stun. This look works wonders on short hairstyles, too!

9. Lovely Low Valentine’s Day Bun

There’s something about a low chignon that has V-Day written all over it. Dress yours up for date night by leaving some face-framing layers out in front and topping it off with a printed silk scrunchie—we’re obsessed with this MARADJI Scarf Scrunchie.

10. Think Pink Valentine’s Day Hair

It’s no secret that punchy, pastel-pink hair color is popping up everywhere. So if you’re in the mood for a little color change, there’s no better time than Valentine’s Day to play with pink. Of course, you don’t need to fully commit to the rosy hue. The UMBERTO GIANNINI Colour Mask will leave you with a rose peach shade that rinses out after a few washes.

11. French-Inspired Valentine’s Day Fringe

These loose, textured waves paired with choppy, imperfect bangs make us feel like we’re getting ready for a romantic rendezvous in Paris. The trick here? Give your bangs just as much movement and texture as your waves. Red lip not included, but highly recommended.

12. Embellished Valentine’s Day Braids

Braided hairstyles are pretty much the epitome of romance. There are so many countless ways to style braids that, as we’ve said before, “the limit does not exist.” So if you’ve got them, flaunt them. To add some glam to yours, just pop in some shiny stick-on or clip-in pearls, and babe, you’re an instant V-day goddess. Want even more glam? Decorate your braids with gilded barrettes, pins, cuffs, or jewels (you can find them on most beauty supply sites), and play with different styles and textures to keep things interesting.

13. Butterfly Clips for Valentine’s Day

With90s-beauty nostalgia returning, it’s no surprise that these forever-trendy butterfly clips have been popping up. For flirty, girl-next-door vibes, create a straight center part and pop some of these colorful hair clips into a few face-framing strands.

14. Flirty Five-Strand Valentine’s Day Braid

Fan of the fishtail braid? Kick it up a notch by adding a few extra plaits. This wispy five-strand braid (aka Dutch braid) gives serious mermaid vibes and creates the look of having thick hair, even if your strands are on the finer side. What we love about this look is that it works for all hair types and textures. Need a visual? Here’s a quick step-by-step how-to.

15. Baddy Valentine’s Day Braid

Looking for a hairstyle that’ll spice things up for Valentine’s Day? This baddy braid is a look that will last from cocktails to nightcaps and beyond. Pull your hair back into a slick, low ponytail and secure it with a clear hair tie. Then, create a tight braid from tail to end and secure the ends with another clear hair tie. The trick here is to pull each section tightly before moving on to the next, eliminating space to create a rope-like effect. Spritz your entire look with a shine-boosting spray (we love AIIR PROFESSIONAL Shine Spray), and let the fun begin.

16. Clip It Up for Valentine’s Day

Remember when claw clips were only meant for laundry days and casual coffee dates? Not anymore! The latest claw clip styles are beyond gorgeous and perfect for any occasion or date-night scenario. Toss your hair up with a pretty tortoise-shell printed clip and let some pieces of hair fall loosely around your face. The less pulled back and “perfect,” the more romantic the look. Got slippery strands? Opt for a matte clip instead, to hold your hair in place for the long haul.

17. Valentine’s Day Space Buns

Two words: totally cute. When it comes to bun hairstyles, space buns are one of those nostalgic back-to-school hairstyles that speak for themselves. They scream fun, adventure, and playfulness (all the feels that you totally want to exude on Valentine’s Day). Here’s a hairstyle tutorial on how to create the look in five easy steps.

18. V-Day Wordy Barrettes

If you’re feeling the love this V-day, (whether it's for yourself, your bestie, or a significant other), one of these adorable hair accessories is all you need to shout it from the rooftops. Plus, it’s also the perfect accessory to pin back any flyaways that might put a damper on your plans.

19. Bouncy Valentine’s Day Curls

If you’re blessed with naturally curly hair, we’re crushing on you big time. Now is the time to embrace every one of those perfect little ringlets. When styling your curls, hair care is key, so make sure you focus on adding in moisture and preventing breakage by using a hydrating shampoo and conditioner. Our recommendation is the GOLDIE LOCKS Mega Hydration Set because it has everything you need to protect your curls, including a hair mask. Pineapple your hair or gather it into a loose topknot at night and snooze on a silk pillowcase for added protection.

20. Valentine’s Day Barbie Bow

This Barbie-meets-Audrey-Hepburn hairstyle makes for the perfect flirty, flippy date night hairdo. Style your hair into a high ponytail and top it off with a sleek black bow, headband, or hair ribbon à la Hailey Bieber. It’s one of those easy-to-use hair accessories that wins every time.

21. Love on Top Valentine’s Day Hair

We’ve seen many heart hairstyles over the years but we’ve never seen one as creative as this half-up hairstyle. The box braids adorned with a heart on top are a sweet way to get into the spirit of the holiday, whether you’re going out with the girls or spending the night in with your significant other.

22. Falling for You Valentine’s Day Braid

Waterfall braids feel very on theme with the season thanks ti their romantic feel. You can style them in a variety of ways; no two waterfall braids are the same. The video will show you how to create the look at home, and we also have a step-by-step tutorial you can follow here.

23. Valentine’s Day Sparkle Ponytail

Dazzle up a simple rope braid with festive glitter at the base. To create the braid, brush your hair into a low ponytail. Next, separate the ponytail into two sections and twist the sections in the same direction. Cross them in the opposite direction to combine them into the rope-like pattern. To add the glitter, you’ll need some hair gel and your glitter of choice. The ANASTASIA BEVERLY HILLS Loose Glitter comes in 10 shades, so you’ll have plenty of hues to choose from. Once you’ve decided if you’ll go with red, pink, white (or a combo of all three!), dab your hair-gel-covered fingers into the glitter and paint to your heart’s content.

24. Easy Breezy Valentine’s Day Bends

Exude Sabrina Carpenter vibes with these soft bends at the ends of your strands. They’re an easy way to freshen up your go-to style at the end of a long day. Spritz the INH Hair Flame Fighter Heat Primer on dry hair, then go in with the ARIA BEAUTY 1.25" Infrared Curling Iron. The bigger barrel size will help you create softer waves as you lightly clamp the ends in the iron. Finish with the AMIKA Top Gloss Shine Spray to give your color an additional luster and to keep your strands frizz-free all through the night.

25. Curls & Headband for Valentine’s Day

Want to keep things simple? Go with something classic, like this curls and headband style. With help from the SUTRA Bombshell Collection 1" Curling Wand, you’ll be able to achieve these voluminous ringlets in no time. Don a red headband (or any Valentine’s Day–themed color of your choosing), and you’re ready to celebrate the day.

26. Koroba Valentine’s Day Braids

With origins tracing back to the Yoruba people in Nigeria, Koroba braids are intricately woven to create this basket-like pattern. While it may seem difficult to DIY this look yourself at home, recreating the artful braids is easier than it may seem. But if you’d like a little help, you can always take this reference photo to your stylist for them to do for you.

27. Retro Valentine’s Day Beauty

The bigger the hair, the better the Valentine’s Day. Don’t believe us? Give this hairstyle a whirl. Start by teasing your hair in sections and using a hairspray as you go. We prefer the DESIGN.ME HAIR HOLD.ME Three-Way Hairspray because it offers three hold settings in one so you can start with light to prep, medium to set, and high to finish. While you tease and spray the sections, comb them back and pin them to create the bouffant updo. P.S. This also makes a great prom hairstyle.

28. Boho Locs Top Knot for Valentine’s Day

From the metallic pink hue to the perfectly curled face-framing pieces, everything about this top knot look is to die for. These are some of the sweetest boho locs we’ve seen in a while, making them all the more perfect for the holiday. Grab your braiding hair and DIY this look yourself, or schedule an appointment with your braider so they can do the heavy lifting for you.

29. Heart’s Abuzz Valentine’s Day Hair

For those who want a Valentine’s Day look that is bold and daring, this is the hairstyle for you. If you already have a buzz cut or a pixie with an undercut, you’re well on your way to achieving this style. If you’re looking to go short, let this be your inspiration to play a little.

30. Red-y for Love Valentine’s Day Hair

A bright red color shows everyone you don’t mess around when it comes to Valentine’s Day, whether you dye your hair permanently or opt for something temporary. Paired with a retro ponytail, this look will draw attention from every direction.

31. Rapunzel, Rapunzel Valentine’s Day Hair

Let down your hair (even if they are hair extensions) with this full braid adorned with flowers. Again, we love a braid; there’s something so effortlessly romantic about the style, which totally fits the theme of Valentine’s Day. Up the romance factor by adding flowers to your strands, whether you use hair clips or the real thing.

32. Bouquet of Roses Valentine’s Day Hair

When your significant other forgets to buy you flowers, you can wear a bouquet of roses in your hair instead. Some serious braiding skills are required to pull off this look, along with a ton of bobby pins, so you may require an extra set of hands or a hair stylist to get this style just right.
