At just 19 years old, Mycah Dior, better known as @clawzbydior, has already carved out a name for herself in the beauty industry—and she did it all with a nail brush in one hand and a Red Bull in the other. From experimenting with polish as a kid to launching a full-fledged career before even graduating high school, Dior’s journey is proof that passion, talent, and a little hustle can take you further than you ever imagined.
And it’s not just any career—Dior’s client list reads like a who’s who of Hollywood and sports elite. She’s the mastermind behind Cynthia Erivo’s stunning nails during the Wicked press tour and award season (a standout moment for the OPI brand ambassador known for her impeccable manicures). She’s also worked with rapper Lil Baby and Olympic gymnast Jordan Chiles, crafting the perfect UCLA-inspired nails for Nike’s latest campaign. Dior’s work consistently garners media attention, solidifying her as one of the most sought-after nail artists in the industry.
Growing up, Dior was always drawn to beauty and artistry. Whether it was coloring, crafting, or styling her Barbie’s hair, she had a natural talent for creating. But it wasn’t until she picked up a nail brush that everything clicked. “Looking back, I should have known nails would be my true passion because I’ve been obsessed with nail polish since I was a little girl,” she says. What started as a childhood fascination quickly evolved into a calling, leading her to explore different beauty services before finding her niche in nail artistry.
While many people struggled to find motivation during the pandemic, Dior saw it as an opportunity to hone her craft and launch her career. “What kept me motivated was the fact that others saw potential in me before I even saw it in myself,” she shares. With unwavering support from her clients and community, she put in the long hours, sacrificed sleep, and committed to perfecting her technique. And her dedication paid off. By the time she was 17, she was already working with major names, proving that talent and drive can open doors regardless of age.
Juggling high school with a booming business wasn’t easy. “Some days, I’d get a last-minute message about a VIP client needing me, so I’d leave school early to take the appointment,” she recalls. Even with a packed schedule, she managed to graduate with a 3.8 GPA and a spot on the principal’s honor roll. “I found a way to make it work because I was determined to grow both academically and as a business owner,” she says.
Beyond managing her coursework and a demanding clientele, Dior also had to navigate an industry that constantly evolves. “The beauty industry moves fast. New techniques, products, and trends are always emerging, and I knew I had to evolve or get left behind,” she explains. Instead of playing it safe, she embraced innovation—experimenting with textures, finishes, and unexpected embellishments to create one-of-a-kind designs. This fearless creativity quickly positioned her as a sought-after artist in the industry.
Dior’s rise to fame wasn’t just about skill—social media played a huge role in her journey. One video (check it out below!), showcased her transformation from a 14-year-old practicing nails in her bedroom to working with rapper Lil Baby by 17. “That post helped people discover who I was and gave them a glimpse into my story,” she says. Since then, she’s continued to use her platform to share her artistry, inspire aspiring nail techs, and connect with a growing audience.
Not content with just being one of the most in-demand nail artists in LA, Dior is also paving the way for the next generation. She launched Clawz Academy to mentor aspiring nail techs, offering guidance and resources she wished she had earlier in her career. And in Spring 2025, she’ll be opening Noire Luxe LA, her own full-service beauty bar, where she hopes to create a luxury space for both beauty professionals and clients.
“Since I first started doing nails, owning my own salon has been a dream of mine. My goal is to make Noire Luxe LA more than just a salon—I want it to be a community hub where beauty creatives can come together in a high-end environment that prioritizes innovation, artistry, and excellence.”
With a clientele that includes YouTubers, Olympians, and Hollywood elite, Dior’s career is only just beginning. But for her, success isn’t just about celebrity status—it’s about making a lasting impact on the beauty industry and inspiring others to chase their dreams.
“I want to prove that age doesn’t define skill. If you’re passionate, consistent, and willing to put in the work, you can build something amazing. I did it, and so can you.”
